GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Lakeland is a non-profit, volunteer organization serving the greater Lakeland area since 1928. They provide their members with training and experience in volunteer community service as well as personal friendships.
Last year, Jasmine Decelle (owner and founder of Decelle Branding, LLC) worked with the organization to make its logo and website. Since then, the club has utilized their web space to keep members informed as well as enlist the help of newcomers wanting to make a difference.
As announced last month, this chapter of GFWC was honored “Best Website” among its other sister clubs.
This is kind of a big deal! We at Decelle Branding are immensely humbled to bring this club’s mission to the forefront with easy, fun, and thorough design. I had a chance to ask Robin Grant, current President of the Juniors a few questions! Please read the exchange below.
Jasmine: First off, congratulations on being awarded the best website for GFWC! How does it feel? (Feel free to include any club member commentaries or sum up the emotions on the announcement)
Robin: Thank you! We were so ecstatic, and honestly a bit in shock, that our little club’s website won out of the over 3,000 General Federation of Women’s Clubs chapters. This is the first time we applied for the GFWC website contest and we were optimistic that Jasmine’s overhaul and rebranding of our website would help us stand out. It was quite an honor to receive this award out of all of the excellent club websites submitted, and we are so grateful to Decelle Branding for making this happen.
Jasmine: And we’re sooo thrilled to have been part of this! What primary service does the website offer you? Has it improved your recruiting efforts?
Robin: Our website serves as a one-stop-shop for existing and prospective club members. We are able to view all of our upcoming events, link to and host fundraisers, and share club information. The website’s member portal has been most useful in sharing documents and linking to other sites in one secure location. And the website has been huge for our recruiting efforts. We are able to direct people to the site for information and club meetings without worrying about missing any details. We have also seen a shift in club inquiries, where in the past they were all coming from Facebook Messenger, now almost all of our inquiries are coming from the website contact form. Receiving an email rather than a message allows us to track and follow up with prospective members much more efficiently.
Jasmine: Yesss, we love some good systems! What is your favorite part of the website?
Robin: The overall look and feel of the website is excellent. It’s bright and fresh, and most importantly, it’s easy to navigate. Having a modern and professional website has had such an impact on how the club is perceived, we are able to convey a fun atmosphere while maintaining our legitimacy as a genuine nonprofit.
Jasmine: How was working with Decelle Branding on this project?
Robin: Working with Jasmine was such a pleasure. We had a small committee assigned to the website project, the members having varying technical experience and visions of the final product. Jasmine listened to all of the suggestions and was able to bring those ideas together to create both a beautiful logo and website. She answered all of our questions with great detail, provided marketing tips, and gave us the tools to maintain the website after the initial build.
