One Page Websites: A Good Starting Point

by | Dec 22, 2022 | Web Design | 0 comments

There are all kinds of websites out there to suit your business needs. Multi-page directories with detailed information on services offered, staffing, products and more. Simple landing pages exist for websites still being built to go live, but they also have the ability to begin building your (new or already established) brand with creative spins on the simple “under construction” take. The perfect in-between takes both ideas, combines them, trims some of the so-called “fat” and becomes what is known as one page websites. I want to lay out why these nifty, quick creations can do more for your business and growth than you may have ever guessed. Just like any multi-page website, a one-page website is a 24/7 billboard that lives to inform, promote, educate, and convert. From immediately boosting engagement with users to its efficiency on a near-constant viewership through mobile devices, there are plenty of things to rave about.

user engagement

One of the biggest goals of having a successful, well-oiled and performing website is ensuring your readers are not only landing on your URL, but sticking around to read through your content in hopes that their interest continues to grow. A single page website can do this very easily regardless of the platform they are accessing your content through. From a navigation standpoint, everything they need to know is at their fingertips, no scavenger hunt or search button required. Your calls-to-action, mission statements, ways to contact you directly or follow you via social media will all be prominently placed on your page with no fear of it being lost or buried in a page within a page.

This kind of direction promises your hopeful client or customer to work through your company’s offerings from top to bottom. If you want someone to be educated before they make the decision to connect, you are guaranteeing yourself success with this kind of layout. Everyone loves simplicity over complexity these days as well, and single-page setups are the definition of exactly that. You can still create a unique look that speaks for yourself and your business, all while being rest assured that no one will get lost in hidden pages that you may have forgotten even existed after enough changes have taken place.

mobile friendly

A big priority for those that craft the websites — aka me! — for clients like (hopefully!) YOU is to ensure that they perform the job they’re intended for on every device and platform. Trust me, that’s a lot of devices and platforms to prep your content for. PC’s have a multitude of different resolutions and browsers you need to ensure your site is compatible with, and mobile devices varying from tablets to phones all have their own assortment of software that can impact how a website is viewed.

The short and sweet of it? The bigger the website, the more complicated it gets to test and ensure your product is as mobile friendly as possible. Even shorter and sweeter than that? One page websites make that job easy. Easier jobs means something more cost-effective for clients requiring a site for their products or services. All of your site’s content is able to be easily accessed via mobile methods, just by your visitor using their fingers to swipe from top to bottom.

speaking of cost-efficient…

If you are considering a new website for your business, chances are you are starting off with a more conservative budget. Trust me, I empathize with that a hundred percent. A 15-page website would be an expensive undertaking no matter who you decide to hire, and you are also looking at a waiting period you may not be comfortable with. If you are anything like me, you want your new idea out there and in the public eye as soon as possible. Waiting two to three months to have a website’s shell completed but needing content to fill all of those pages can rub some salt in the wounds your checkbook has already left behind.

A single page website is not only highly affordable, but you are also looking at a website that generally requires one individual to craft for you in the matter of 15-to-20 business hours. Paying for a product and getting that product completely finished and ready to go live within the same month is empowering, and it is hard to ignore that massive benefit for a business that needs a presence as soon as feasible.

additional considerations

It should be important to note that a one page website ISN’T recommended by me or other professionals as your company’s end destination. Sooner or later, I can guarantee you will find a need for your website to expand. At some point, placing all of your content on a single page will become too difficult to manage. It will either cause problems for your SEO in the long-term or your site may become slower to load as more photos, reviews and miscellaneous information gets added. This can potentially threaten a visitors’ desire to hang around in order to see everything you have to offer.

That being said, you should consider this option as a building block towards your company’s immediate and future success. A single page website is the foundation of your brand, allowing you to sell your promise and image to the clientele you are catering your content to. You can do this without sacrificing your entire budget. The best part? That website that has been built for one page can be eventually modified to expand for as many pages as you are comfortable with, using the content already established as a baseline. Instead of a website shut behind an Under Construction page for weeks at a time, you have something fully functional and live while your “upgrade” is on the table getting built.

We are now offering NEW AND AFFORDABLE one page website design starting at $1,100. If you think this idea might tickle your fancy, please know that appointments and consultations are available for us to go over how your business could take advantage of the benefits mentioned above and more!
